What is quercetin?

Clinical trials of quercetin are always prosperous in years, studies of the quercetin, the isoquercetin and quercetin liposomes are made worldwide.

What is quercetin? Quercetin is a plant compound found abundantly in vegetables, fruits, and nuts, belonging to the flavonoid group of polyphenols. It has long been used as an ingredient in functional foods and beverages.

Big batches of quercetin is generally from the 100% natural plant extract rutin, quercetin is hydrolysis of rutoside, or Enzymatic hydrolysis rutin.Both rutin and quercetin are Sophora Janponica flower buds extract.

Why quercetin?

Quercetin is considered the most widely distributed and studied flavonoid, according to a past review. 

Research shows that anti-inflammatory foods containing quercetin can help manage a number of health conditions caused by inflammation, including heart disease and blood vessel problems, allergies, infections, chronic fatigue, and other symptoms associated with autoimmune disorders such as arthritis.

More and more researches and studies are made on quercetin to explore further on this natural polyphenolic antioxidant.

1. Two studies of quercetin in treatment of Covid-19.

🚀A phase 2 clinical trial conducted in Canada, plans to test the effect of Isoquercetin+plus standard of care VS standard of care for treatment of covid-19.

The results of this trial shall be a base to design further study on Isoquercetin in all or a subject with confirmed covid19. This open-label, randomized study is designed to start in Jan and to be finished in Dec,2022.

 🚀A France based study with official title Randomized, Phase 2 Clinical Trial to Evanuate the Safety and Efficacy of Masitinib Combined with Isoquercetin, and Best Supportive Care in Hospitalized Patients With Moderate and Severe COVID-19.

The study lasts two years and is coming to close in this month, waiting for the update.

2.Study of quercetin focused on treatment of Fanconi Anemia

This phase 2 clinical trial of dietary supplement quercetin on Fanconi anemia is titled officially as Quercetin Chemoprevention for Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Patients with Fanconi Anemia. The study started 4 years ago in Cincinnati, USA, and is estimated to make primary completion in Sep,2024, funded by FDA Office of Orphan Products Development.

3.Four clinical trials on quecetin in treatment of aging related problems

🚀A remote study officially titled as Evaluation of a Computational Model That Predicts the Effects of Quercetin on Metabolic Health Using Biological Age and Other Lipid-related Blood Metrics. 

Treatment with quercetin phytosome, the study started on March 24,2022 and estimated primary completion in Aug,2022. The work aims to provide a proof of concept from a computational model of nutritional compounds and suggest a novel application of quercetin to support healthy human metabolism.

🚀A phase 2 study titled as The Safety and Effectivness of Quercetin and Dasatinib on the Epigenetic Aging Rates in Healthy Individuals.

Aim to assess the effects of quercetin and dasatinib over a period of 16 weeks on Participants epigenetic bilogical aging, therefore, the treatment of this study is drug dasatinib plus quercetin. The trial started on Dec16,2020 and the estimated study completion is quite close on Jun 30,2022.

🚀Pilot study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of study drugs and supplements on clinical signs of aging and to explore other possible biological measures of aging.

Metformin, Dasatinib and Rapamycin are included in the drug, while Bio-quercetin, Bio-fisetin, Glucosamine, Nicotinamide Riboside and Trans-resveratrol are included in the supplements. The study estimated in April, and estimated to reach primary completion in Dec,2023.

🚀An Open-Label, Randomized, Double Arm, Phase 2 Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of C and RQC for Preventing Progression in Age-Related Macular Degeneration.

The Chicago based study started in July last year, and is estimated to reach the primary completion in Feb, 2023, and the publication may update then. Well, the C is curcumin here, RQC means combination of Resveratrol, quercetin and curcumin here.

4.Two clinical studies of quercetin in treatment of coronary artery diseases.

🚀Official title as Étude randomisée contrôlée Par Placebo de Phase II Visant à Mesurer l’Effet Anti-inflammatoire et Anti-sénescence de la quercétine Lors d’Une Chirurgie Cardiaque.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the anti-inflammatory and anti-senescence effects of quercetin during the Coronary artery by-pass graft surgery. This Canada based trial is in phase2, started on June 4,2021 and the estimated primary completion is in January,2023.

🚀Sao Paulo, Brazil based study officially titled as Serum Concentration and Gene Expression of Sirtuin-1 and Advanced Glycation End-products in Postmenopausal Women With Atherosclerotic Coronary Disease After Administration of Atorvastatin and Supplementation With Quercetin: Randomized Trial.

The study will analyze the effects of atorvastatin and quercetin on the serum levels and gene expression of Sirt1 and sRAGE in postmenopausal women with stable coronary artery disease. This phase 3 trial started on Aug 2,2019 , the completion time is estimated on June 30,2022, quite close now

5.A supplement together with Bromelain, Rye flower pollen, and papain, quercetin in treatment for Prostatitis

The phase 2 randomized controlled study of supplement on reducing the severity of radiation-induced prostatitis was just started in this month(estimated), and is estimated to primarily completed in Apr,2024. This Salt Lake based study is assess the safety of the supplement use after brachy therapy placement in patients with localized prostate cancer

6. A clinical trial of analyzing quercetin in treatment for osteoarthritis. The study is titled as Evaluation of the Efficacy of Natural Senolytic Agents and NLRP3 Inhibitors in Treatment of Osteoarthritis: Randomized, Single Blinded, Placebo Controlled Trial.

The study is estimated to start in Mar,2022 and to complete primarily in Sep,2023, with treatment of quercetin and fisetin.
